Yom HaShoah
On Yom HaShoah, we remember the 6 millions Jews, killed in World War ll. The word Shoah means catastrophe and total destruction in Hebrew. It is a day set aside to remember how Jews in Europe were victims of the Nazis’ systematic destruction for Jewish lives and communities. The Shoah is also known as the Holocaust, derived form the Greek word meaning sacrifice my fire”.
In many families the relative new tradition, lightning 6 lights, reminds us of the loved ones no longer among us. People like you and me and a remembrance of people being persecuted even today.
