Convert Danish measurements to US

 

Don’t let the different measurements be an obstacle, when you want to switch between let’s say Danish and American recipes. Here are a few guidelines.

Teaspoon, tablespoon is the same in both Denmark and the US.

1 tsk. (teskefuld) = 1 teaspoon

1 spsk. (spiseskefuld) = 1 tablespoon

2.4 dl = approx. 1 cup

4,5 l (liter) = 1 gallon (ga)

0, 5 l. = 1 pint

1 l = approx. 1 quart (qt)

1 knivspids = 1 pinch

140 g = approx. 1 cup flour weight

200 g = approx. 1 cup sugar weight

225 g = approx. 1 cup butter weight

28 g = 1 ounce (oz)

454 g = 1 pound (lb) = 16 ounces

When using the oven, you must be aware that Denmark uses Celsius while the US uses Fahrenheit.

150-175º C =  300-325º F

175-200º C = 350-375º F

200-225ºC = 400-425º F

225-250ºC = 450-475º F
